hi! I’m Carrie.

Do you ever feel like life just doesn’t look the way you thought it would? Maybe it’s your relationships, your work, your emotions—or even your faith—that feel heavy or confusing. My heart is to come alongside you in those hard places, to offer hope, and to help you discover what’s possible—even if things feel stuck right now.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of counseling, mentoring, and coaching people from all kinds of backgrounds, cultures, ages, and stages of life. I’ve lived much of my life overseas and while I do understand the unique challenges of ministry, transition and culture stress, I also resonate with relationship issues, parenting struggles, and family dynamics that can happen in any setting.

While I have worked often in the area of trauma and helping others through grief, loss, and stressful changes in their lives, I also have experience working and supporting individuals and their families struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, and other related issues. I have a special place in my heart for parents of neurodivergent kids.

My perspective on healing and growth….I believe we are complex human beings with complex problems. Physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of ourselves are often intertwined and need to be considered as we work through life’s challenges.

My approach to counseling….I have an eclectic approach to counseling so that I can best meet each client’s unique needs. I draw from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and person-centered therapy. I believe we have hope through the power that God gives us to change, and the confidence that he is able to carry us through our struggles and dark times. He is the unchanging source of truth in our lives—the One who gives true freedom and hope.

Where it all started…My journey started in the early 2000s while living and working in Southeast Asia. This season opened my eyes to the deep need we have for support during life’s toughest moments, and it stirred a my desire to be present with people in real, tangible ways. When I returned to the U.S., I spent years working in higher education, walking with students as they stepped into adulthood—as I earned my Master’s in Professional Counseling. I then served as a primary counselor in a hospital and rehab setting—supporting adults with individual, group, and family therapy. I have continued to use counseling as a way to help others from a variety of backgrounds in the years I’ve lived abroad.

Where I am now…I currently hold a License as a Resident in Counseling, working toward my LPC in Virginia, where I began many years ago. For the past six years, my husband and I have been raising our three amazing kids while living and working in Latin America. I continue to serve in ministry and walk with others through their own unique challenges as we live in the US again.
